Masud Ali Khan dies but his amazing legacy for Bangladeshi

The Bangladesh entertainment industry feels the pain of losing Masood Ali Khan, one of its most popular actors; he was. There was a tear in his voice today — “he was in Bangladesh until 4:20 p.m. He has been suffering from various ailments of old age for quite some time, which his family confirmed,” the 95-year-old actor died at his home in Green Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka on the 31st of October.

Masud Ali Khan’s career formally began in 1956 when he joined the Drama Circle, the first organized theatrical group of Bangladeshi origin. At that time, theater was still in its nascent stage in the country, and he emerged as one of the foremost figures in the establishment of the contemporary cultural and performing arts of Bangladesh. He was with the Drama Circle when they began the development of Bangladesh theatre which led to acting in television and films.

In 1964, Khan made his television debut playing one of the leads in a series called *Bhai Bhai Sobai*, penned down by the well-known playwright Nurul Momen. The show was aired on the first television station in Bangladesh which was located in the DIT Building in Dhaka. This was a great achievement for the television industry in Bangladesh. The show helped popularize drama in the format of theater and Dramatic Pieces and through this, Masud Ali Khan established his prominence as an actor with impressive depth of character and nuance.

As many of his fans and his followers say, with his departure, it is an end of an era for Bangladesh as well. It brings sorrow with it as the fans know there will be no one like him around again. But history shall teach the new generation about his remarkable body of work and how it stand the test of time and always will.
